Quartier San Lazzaro

Visual identity and Wayfinding design

Proposal identity for the San Lazzaro campus in Reggio Emilia, a former lazzaretto and mental hospital, now home to many activities in the province.

Goal

Revive its history by highlighting past and present functions, creating a link between memory and contemporary use.

Design process

The development of Quartier San Lazzaro began with extensive on-site research, including multiple visits to document the space through photography and interviews. Conversations with both current occupants and individuals who had worked there in the past provided valuable insights into the evolution of the campus. These findings were analyzed in collaborative team sessions, where artifacts, stories, and spatial elements were examined to define key themes for the identity.

How it works

Built around the campus map, the identity includes a website, editorial project, posters, logo, video and wayfinding. These elements visually connect the site’s history to its present, preserving its legacy while making it accessible to a wider audience.
